I decided for this post I would show you a bunch of pictures of the Idaho Panhandle!
So, if you are not accustomed to woods and forests, this is called a Conk. Conks are a fibrous fungus that rot wood. Some Sagle locals hold them in high regard as they believe placing Conks in campfires ward off our gross mosquitos. No real proof, but it couldn't hurt, right?
These three photos reflect my addiction to moss. They were taken of growths on trees in University of Idaho's Old Arboretum.
This is my spirit tree. Also found in UI's Old Arb. is the Giant Sequoia. Of course, those are two of the Sequoia's pine cones.
My favorite pets! Technically my parents', but they're mine when I'm there. Woody is the best lab ever, sans his addiction to porcupines... The kitten, who is now a cat, has no official name. Mom and Phil call her Kitten and I call her Cat. Sometimes she's El Tigre. Mostly she's a spazz.
This is an insanely amazing stump found at Round Lake, just south of Sagle, Idaho.
Dandelion and Clovers
A bench at Sandpoint's City Beach and a nice shot of some sailors on Pend Oreille Lake!
6th street, Sandpoint, Idaho in early spring.
I'm gonna be entirely honest, I remember going to this lake. I remember who I was with. But I do not remember what it is called or where precisely it is. That is part of Panhandle magic. You happen across things that you never find again.
Just a daisy I found in my aunt's gigantic yard.
I hope you enjoyed that short foray into the (mostly) closeups of Panhandle Nature!
